From the Retreat Cabin – In the Mountains of East Tennessee –

As we approach America’s 250th birthday, I’ve been pondering just what it is like to live in this great country.

The first thing that comes to mind is the FREEDOM that we have. The fact that I can get in my car and drive pretty much anywhere I want to is glorious.

Likewise, I can do the same thing with our little airplane—which, by the way, is very close to being put back together, THANKS to some very generous donors! PRAISE GOD!!

Another freedom that I particularly enjoy is preaching the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS!

Last Saturday, Cindy and I set up our book-signing table at Lookout Mountain and met some wonderful folks. I had the strongest impression that there was someone special that we would meet.

Then came an ambulance, soon joined by another and then another. They were at a little cabin only about 200 feet away from where Cindy and I were sitting.

We gathered with a couple of folks nearby, and I suggested that we pray. My spiritual antenna went up, and I asked our Lord to guide me.

There was one young man standing there named Kenneth, who had once been an EMT with that same rescue team. He began telling us what was going on.

Then I made the statement that whoever was in that cabin may be encountering Jesus at that very moment. Kenneth simply said, “I’ve been on the other side and know that it is real.”

Kenneth then shared his story. He had been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and should not have survived. He showed me a horrible scar that took my breath away. He was in a coma for over six months and had multiple encounters with Jesus.

Well, we knew this was our first meeting—but surely not our last. Tomorrow evening, Kenneth will be coming to our cabin to sit on our front porch and talk all about Jesus without fear of persecution.

Again, I’m THANKFUL for the freedom of religion that we have here in America.

I just thought I’d share my love and appreciation for this great country and the many freedoms that we enjoy.
