This morning, I got the message that our local Co-Op had a used scissor cutter for $700.  We need one of these to complete our Square Hay-Bale operation.  The new price is $5500.

I dashed to the Co-Op and bought it… before anyone changed their mind.

We got it back to our little farm and did an inspection and greased all the fittings.  It did appear to be in good condition.  

We fired it up and began working on our very first square bale of hay.  

One hour into our first hay cutting…the main blade broke.  Fortunately, the Co-Op had given us a 30 day warranty.  Once we get the blade replaced, we’ll be right back to baling hay.

So, I guess the bright-side is that we will have a new blade on our used Scissor cutter.
