1-31-2026 Saturday 7:59 AM (U.S. Central Time ) – On Galveston Island, Texas – Report submitted by Air Mobile Joe
The WX forecast was not good. Another massive line of snow and high winds was converging on us.
We knew if we did not head to the Knoxville airport immediately, we would miss our long-awaited Cruise out of Galveston, TX.
Cindy was on the phone with American Airlines bumping up our departure flight by 48 hours and I was packing and ripping out a blog.
We hit the road with heavy snow falling…not a minute too soon. We arrived in Knoxville (TYS) on time, and boarded our flight to DFW (Dallas).
Once landing in Dallas, our layover was only an hour. We watched the minutes tick off, as we sat in the aircraft, on the ground, for nearly 30 minutes. Didn’t look like we were going to make the flight to Houston…but, with a mad dash, we did!

We were the last passengers to board the AA CR-900. WOW!

So, here we are on Galveston Island, TX with a couple of free days before our Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship, the “Mariner of the Seas” departs on Monday Morning

While checking in to our Hotel, we met a long-time resident (4th generation), Casey Odonohoe, of this beautiful, and richly historic Island.
He filled us in to some of the wonderful museums and places of great interest.
So, at 2:30 AM, we finally went to sleep, on this on this long and extraordinary journey of 2 weary “Snow Birds” escaping the snow!
God bless you & THANKS again for your faithful prayer, love and support!
